King introduced a sophisticated style of soloing based on fluid string bending, shimmering vibrato, and staccato picking that influenced many later blues electric guitar players. He often played 300 or more one-night stands a year with his 13-piece band. King’s relentless touring strengthened his claim to the title of undisputed king of the blues, and he was a regular fixture on the Billboard charts through the mid-1980s. Here, he is performing “The Thrill is Gone” live in 1971.

My take on the most recognizable guitar tone in history, Boston's 'More Than a Feeling' guitar solo! 🎸Tom Scholz delivered one of rock's happiest, most nostalgic leads ever. Took him years in his basement to perfect! He actually created his guitar amp, the famous Rockman, used heavily in the 80s by bands like Def Leppard and ZZ Top. Also, the debut Boston album was fully recorded on his personal studio and the record company wanted them to rerecord everything in a proper studio but Tom Scholz refused. After Free played a show that left the band unhappy with their performance, bassist Andy Fraser began singing the phrase “all right now” backstage, trying to lift everyone’s spirits. He and Paul Rodgers then developed the idea into “All Right Now”. Recorded for Free’s 1970 album Fire and Water, the song reached No. 2 in the UK and became their international breakthrough. Fraser was still only a teenager when he co-wrote it. Built around Paul Kossoff’s enormous guitar riff and Rodgers’ vocal, it transformed Free from a respected blues-rock band into major stars.
