🚨David Ornestein 🗣️ “Chelsea were willing to pay it, and the deal was completed incredibly quickly. An agreement was reached owner-to-owner, which is becoming an interesting dynamic in some of these transfers. “We saw it with Manchester City, Elliot Anderson and Nottingham Forest. The people at the very top are starting to step in, above sporting directors and other executives, to get these deals moving and completed. “Chelsea made an offer of £117 million.” “Why £117 million? Just to make it the highest? Take it £1 million above the other deal?” “That’s what it is.” “And all of it is performance-related?” “Not to my knowledge. It’s guaranteed.” “An amazing deal for Aston Villa.” “I think so. When you look at some of the other valuations involving Tonali and Anderson this summer, I don’t think it’s wild. Rogers is a top attacker who produces goals and assists, and he is at a great age. “But yes, it’s fantastic for Villa financially, especially considering how much they originally signed him for. No doubt they’ll bring somebody else in and try to go again. “Rogers will have his medical on Monday, which is tomorrow, according to our understanding. He will sign a six-year contract, with Chelsea holding the option to extend it by another 12 months. “Xabi Alonso was at the heart of the deal. He was instrumental in convincing Rogers to join Chelsea, play for him and become part of the project.

🚨Fabrizio Romano 🗣️To Chelsea, but it’s part of the conversation. Garnacho could go to Aston Villa, and now the Aston Villa-Garnacho deal is done, completed, and it’s a “here we go.” My understanding—and it’s an important point, so let’s enter into all the details of the story—is that it’s a loan with an obligation to buy, with the salary covered by Aston Villa. Chelsea sources believe that the obligation to buy is very, very easy—extremely easy—almost a guarantee that Alejandro Garnacho will sign permanently for Aston Villa in 2027. So that’s an important condition and an important point. There is practically a guaranteed obligation to buy, and Garnacho is expected to be an Aston Villa player by 2027. The contract he signs now with Aston Villa, with the potential guaranteed permanent move in 2027, will be valid for several years. Then, the role of Unai Emery. Garnacho was in Birmingham today, and he met with Unai Emery before giving the final green light to the deal. But my understanding is that, in the last two or three days, Unai did an incredible job. The initial idea of Alejandro Garnacho was not to reject Aston Villa. His idea was to leave England and try a different chapter—maybe Italy or maybe Spain. He was in negotiations with Roma. But then Unai Emery changed the story. Emery spoke to Garnacho, Emery wanted Garnacho, and Emery believes Garnacho can do fantastically well at Aston Villa. This was the driving factor in getting the deal done. So, Alejandro Garnacho to Aston Villa is a “here we go.” The two clubs have also been in contact about Nicolas Jackson, who is a potential target for Villa. Let’s see whether Chelsea want to give the green light or not. I also want to discuss Chelsea quickly because it’s true, as reported by the English media, that in the last 24 to 48 hours, Alex Scott is a player Chelsea approached. Chelsea tried to understand the situation around Alex Scott, but Bournemouth do not want to sell the player. So, at the moment, the door is still closed, but Chelsea tried for Alex Scott. Chelsea are still looking to do something important in midfield. Chelsea’s next bomb after Morgan Rogers could be a new midfielder. Apart from the centre-back situation—we know about Lacroix—and apart from what they are exploring in other positions, midfield is something we should not underestimate. Chelsea will also be busy in that position. Then, talking about the “here we goes” of the day, guys, just quickly… #NG67

René Meulensteen, former Manchester United coach, on Cristiano Ronaldo: “Basically, I told him, ‘I think I know exactly what you want.’ He looked at me like, ‘How can you know? We’ve never had a conversation.’ I said, ‘Yes, I know.’ He asked, ‘What is it?’ I said, ‘You want to be the best player in the world—not once, not twice, but many, many times to come.’ I asked, ‘Am I wrong?’ He said, ‘No, you’re right.’ Then I asked him, ‘Will you be the best player in the world tomorrow?’ He said, ‘No, probably not.’ I said, ‘Next week?’ He said, ‘No.’ ‘Next month?’ ‘No.’ So I told him, ‘By the end of the season, we need to work on what will bring you closer to what you want to achieve. One of those aspects is understanding and being aware of the kind of player you are and the position you play. But more than anything, you need to understand how to utilize your strengths—and one of them is scoring goals.’ I asked, ‘How many goals did you score last season?’ He said, ‘23.’ I said, ‘Okay, but I assume you want to get better, don’t you?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ So I asked, ‘What’s your target for this season? Because if it’s the same, you’re not really improving.’ He thought about it and said, ‘30?’ I nodded. Then he asked, ‘What do you think?’ I said, ‘I think 40.’ He said, ‘Forty? That’s nearly double.’ Then I took him inside and showed him a video of United’s top strikers—Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole, Teddy Sheringham, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, and Ruud van Nistelrooy. It was a three-minute clip—goals after goals, bang, bang, bang. I asked, ‘What did you see?’ He said, ‘A lot of goals—beautiful goals.’ I said, ‘Yeah, but what do you really see?’ He said, ‘Goals.’ I said, ‘No, no, no. You’re going to watch it again and then tell me what you see.’ We watched it again, and I asked, ‘What do you see?’ He said, ‘I know what you mean—most goals are scored from inside the box, most are scored with one or two touches, and there’s a variety: tap-ins, shots, headers, and so on.’ I said, ‘Correct. These are exactly the three things you’re going to work on on the pitch.’”

Host: Tim, you’re a Chelsea fan. What is your view on Enzo Fernández? Tim: This season, I’ve been a big fan of what he has given us on the pitch. He is always popping up with one of those classy goals from just outside the box, or making a run into the area and smashing it in. It’s lovely to see, and I can’t complain. However, the way he conducted himself during the World Cup was absolutely disgusting. I’m thoroughly embarrassed that he plays for my club. The way he was flying into tackles, the incident in the final when he was sent off and him dancing around on the pitch with the Falklands bannerM it was disgraceful. I want him gone. Host: Tim, I completely understand your point, especially regarding the Argentina incidents. However, considering everything that has happened at Chelsea this season, when the team has sometimes looked a little soft and become a bit of a laughing stock, is it wise to get rid of one of the few players who has some bite and aggression, despite all the other things you’ve mentioned? Tim: I completely understand what you’re saying. It’s a really good point, and I have to admit that it’s quite difficult to answer. I guess it would all depend on who Chelsea replaced him with. Host: You did really well there, Tim. Tim: Yeah, all right, mate. You’ve punched me right in the soft spot. There’s no coming back from that. Host: I think you’ve lost that one, Tim. You need to defend yourself. Second caller: How are you doing, boys? Are you all right? Host: Yeah, we’re good, man. You’ve got a good voice. Second caller: Let’s bring it back to Chelsea quickly. Just to give you some context, my boy is sitting in the car with me now. He is eight years old, and we have followed Chelsea home and away across Europe. Last season, we travelled to Paris, Italy and Azerbaijan. The season before that, we attended all the Conference League games apart from the final. Even though Enzo didn’t play in many of those matches, what he does off the ball for Chelsea is unbelievable. You don’t always notice it when you’re sitting at home watching on television. His work rate is incredible, and you’re right what football is missing now is bite, aggression and that side of the game. When you’re playing against a team like Arsenal, you need that kind of player.

📷 Interview from tonight's Connollys of Moy Senior Football Championship game between Éadan na dTorc and Ard Bó. Conn Ó Dochartaigh gives a few words as Gaeilge after his team's win. E: I’m only after meeting a very happy man from Edendork, Conn Ó Dochartaigh. You got the result you wanted and you had to fight the whole way for it. Isn’t that right? C: That’s true Éamonn, here it was a great game and both teams played very well. It was also a wet evening which made it harder for us as well, but we kept at it and kept going and I think that’s what brought us the win tonight. E: So what do you think brought the win to Edendork tonight? C: Edendork showed great resilience tonight and kept on fighting and fighting throughout the game, and even when Ardboe scored the two goals and when things weren’t looking well for us, we kept on going and I think that’s what pulled us over the line tonight. E: It was a big effort from the teams, where was your man of the match tonight? C: To be honest with you, I could name every player on the pitch tonight, everybody played very well. They all deserve man of the match tonight, but in my own opinion, I think man of the match goes to Luke Ferguson tonight. He was up and down the pitch all night and he never stopped. I think he’s the man of the match tonight. E: Have you anything else you’d like to say Conn? Will there be a few drinks in the Stagger out or The Square bar tonight? C: Maybe the Square bar, I think Shaun is away on holidays! E: Conn, enjoy your win tonight. C: Thank you Éamonn.

🎥 Full Translation of Felipe Melo's great words about Cristiano Ronaldo... 🇧🇷🗣 Felipe Melo: "I am talking about Cristiano Ronaldo. Cristiano Ronaldo scored today, right? He came back from holiday and scored a goal today. The man is a machine. There are 23 goals left until 1,000. That is not talent. It is not just talent. It is obsession, discipline, and a mentality that is completely out of the ordinary. The 1,000th goal is no longer a dream for Cristiano. It is simply a matter of time. Cristiano Ronaldo is an example for everyone. He is an example. I have no doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo is an example for Messi. He was an example for Ronaldo Nazário. He is an example, and still is. Ronaldo Nazário plays tennis now, so he is still competing. Cristiano Ronaldo is an example of someone who is competitive and professional. He is an example for all great athletes. I will say it again: I have no doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo is an example for Neymar, Messi, Suárez, Mbappé, Endrick, Dembélé, and so many others, because of who he is and everything he represents. The man is a machine. He is a machine. According to Flashscore, Cristiano needs 23 more goals to reach 1,000. Twenty three. Cristiano, I want to say something to you, if you are watching this video. I will pay for my own flight, even if I have to stay there for three games in a row. When you are three goals away from completing 1,000 career goals, I will be there to witness it up close. The world has to stop and witness it. This legend, this machine, a man who inspires generations and generations. That is Cristiano Ronaldo. I had the immense pleasure of facing him several times when Cristiano Ronaldo was at Real Madrid and I was at Juventus. Then Cristiano Ronaldo was at Real Madrid and I was also at Galatasaray. We also faced each other at the World Cup when Brazil played Portugal. So I have a lot of admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo. He is a great idol of mine and of my family as well. I support him a lot, a lot, a lot. I want to ask you something, Cristiano. Do not end your career this year, man. Do not end your career this year. A big hug to you, and congratulations on everything you have done for this generation, the legacy you have left for so many people and so many generations, young people, adults, and the elderly. Everyone stops to watch Cristiano Ronaldo as a professional, as a player, as a father, as a husband, and as a man of integrity. I thank God that I am alive to witness a player like you. Soon, very soon, you will reach 1,000 career goals. Do not stop, my friend. Do not stop."

🚨Maxence Lacroix on why he chose to join Chelsea while Arsenal are interested in signing him. 🎙️Interviewer: Arsenal were the Premier League champions and reportedly wanted you. Why did you choose Chelsea instead? 🗣️ Lacroix: First of all, I respect Arsenal. They’ve had an incredible season and deserve credit for that. But trophies from one season don’t decide my future. When Chelsea came to me with their project, I knew where I wanted to be. 🎙️Interviewer: A lot of people will question that decision because Chelsea aren’t playing European football next season. 🗣️ Lacroix: People can question it all they want. I’m not joining a club for one season I’m joining because I believe in where it’s going. Chelsea is a club built on winning. Every big club goes through difficult periods, but history doesn’t disappear overnight. 🎙️Interviewer: So Arsenal being champions wasn’t enough? 🗣️ Lacroix: No. Being champions today doesn’t automatically make you the biggest club tomorrow. Chelsea’s history, the trophies they’ve won, the mentality, and the ambition all played a huge part in my decision. I wanted to be part of bringing Chelsea back to the very top. 🎙️Interviewer: Some fans will say you rejected guaranteed Champions League football. 🗣️ Lacroix: I chose the badge I wanted to represent. Champions League football will come. I believe Chelsea will be back there very soon, and I’d rather be part of that journey than join a team just because they’re currently in the competition. 🎙️Interviewer: Final message to Chelsea and Arsenal fans? 🗣️ Lacroix: To Chelsea fans, thank you for believing in me I won’t let you down. To Arsenal fans, I understand you’ll disagree with my choice, but every player has to follow what feels right. For me, that was Chelsea, and I have absolutely no regrets.

Drew Brees shares a masterclass in leadership. It's 2004, he's about to lose his job, and he asked for 10 minutes with the team before the season. What happened next turned a 4-12 squad into a 12-4 contender. Brees passed out goal sheets to every player. "I said, 'We're going to accomplish great things this year. But we need to create that path for ourselves, and then we need to hold ourselves accountable for this.'" The sheets had three sections: • Top 5 team goals. • Top 5 offensive/defensive goals. • Top 5 personal goals. "I had already had a list of things I felt should be our goals, but I wanted it to be a collaboration." "If it comes out of their mouth, then they gotta own it. And they have to become accountable to it." That's the key. Goals that come from the team belong to the team. "It gave guys the opportunity to verbalize things that maybe they otherwise wouldn't have verbalized." "I didn't want to leave anything up for chance. I didn't want to leave anything up for assumption." "What are we trying to accomplish? Goal number one - win a Super Bowl. Okay, in order to do that, what do we have to do? In order to do that, what do I have to do?" "You just set these short-term goals in order to achieve the big one." "Nobody had ever done that before. I'd never done that with a team. But when guys came together, put their heads together, put something on paper - they committed to it and became accountable to it." Goals without ownership are just wishes. • Make them say it. • Make them write it. • Make them own it. That's how you build accountability and set a shared standard for the team. Arteta on Gyokeres: “Well, I think the level of attention on him hasn't changed since he signed to today. It's normal. Everybody was so excited to bring a nine into the club. We did it, we brought a player with an incredible goalscoring record that had to adapt to the league. “He had no preseason, the first few weeks were difficult because physically he wasn't in his best state and he's a player that needs that, like any other player in this league, almost to perform at that level. “Then he kicked on, I think he had a really good period and got injured. And now it's better. I saw a lot of positive things in the last two games that he's done, we need to continue to tweak and understand him a little bit better in certain situations and he needs to do the same, but that's about time. We have full support for him. “At the end, you have to experience it (scrutiny). You can imagine the global impact that you're going to have to deal with when you come to a big club and the expectations are as it is, but after you have to live it and living it is always slightly different to your imagination. “However, he's doing it with a With a lot of desire. I think his energy level, his commitment, it's absolutely top. We are here to help him because we've all been here, we all need time, there is always moments, and the strikers have moments. “They score more goals, less goals, and we need to be there for him. “I think so, yes (we’re going to see another level from Gyokeres in the second half of the season.”

𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐄𝐖𝐀𝐍 𝐒𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐃 We're excited to announce that Ewan Sutherland has signed a pre-contract agreement with the club and will join Cowdenbeath following the expiry of his current deal. The 26 year-old striker arrives from Dunipace after an impressive 2025/26 campaign, scoring 24 goals and playing a key role in the Pace's promotion to the Lowland League East. Ewan has signed a two year deal at Central Park, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2027/28 season, and we look forward to welcoming him to the Club. Upon signing, Ewan commented "Delighted to sign for the club. Being a local lad, I am fully aware of the potential the club has and want to help bring success in the coming seasons. I am coming off the back of a good season personally and hope to continue that into next year and beyond." His new manager, Paul McLean, added "Delighted Ewan has agreed to join us. He's the type of player we've been missing and will complement our other strikers really well. He's got fantastic link up play and is a real handful for defenders. Having scored over 20 goals for Dunipace, he's also got an eye for goal, and I'm sure he will continue that with us next season." Director of Football Operations Colin Nelson said: "Great news to announce an important signing for the club. Ewan is an old fashioned number nine who will complement the players we already have at the club. He adds physicality to the forward line and ticks a number of boxes. Signing him on a two year deal is good business for the club. Ewan has had a very successful season, scoring 24 goals and playing a major role for Dunipace. His desire to be here shone through from our initial conversations, and I'm sure the fans will get behind him and the boys at the start of the season."
