This is exactly what I told you would happen. Bitcoin just lost the 14-year support that survived every major crash: Mt. Gox. COVID. FTX. Every cycle, this line held. Until now. I don't think BitMEX shutting down means Bitcoin is suddenly heading to $180K. Looking back: After Mt. Gox collapsed, Bitcoin entered a new cycle. After BitGrail failed, Bitcoin eventually emerged from the 2018 bear market. FTX's collapse came almost exactly at the 2022 cycle bottom. But both Mt. Gox and FTX collapsed because of massive balance sheet holes and bank-run dynamics, which accelerated deleveraging and flushed weak hands out of the market. BitMEX is completely different. It didn't implode overnight or suffer a massive run on withdrawals. It chose to shut down after steadily losing trading volume and market share over the years. I don't think this should be viewed as a bullish signal.
