Gavin Thor Lundgren was alleged to be driving 75 in a 45 MPH zone when Stone County Sheriff’s Office deputies in Missouri tried to pull him over. Lundgren pulled into a parking lot, circled around the building, and took off, which led to a high-speed chase. Lundgren then led police to a bridge, where he opened the door of the vehicle, got out, and jumped headfirst off the bridge. After he was arrested in Dallas on May 30 for allegedly driving without a valid license, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm, a suspect in Texas decided to take the police wheel into his own hands. The incident happened after the suspect secretly removed his left hand from his handcuffs. When officers began driving to jail, the suspect attempted to open the squad car's rear door, prompting the officers to get out of the car, and eventually climbed into the driver’s seat and took off. One of the officers managed to jump into the backseat of the vehicle. That officer then attempted to stop the suspect by tasing him and striking him on the side of the head with his firearm. The suspect opened the driver’s side door and jumped out after driving what police said was a distance of about 1,000 feet. At that point, the police officer was able to regain control of the patrol car, and the suspect was given medical assistance before being taken back into custody, where he faces numerous charges.
