Wrong-Way Driver Arrested on E-470 A deputy was headed into work on E-470 near Parker when they observed a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes. Due to the median barrier, the deputy was unable to get behind the car but observed the driver swerving through oncoming traffic. Another deputy was quickly dispatched to the area and intercepted the wrong-way driver. During the initial traffic stop, the driver appeared to try to evade the deputy. The driver then conducted a U-turn to face the correct direction on E-470 and pulled onto the right shoulder. The driver was arrested on the following charges: •Reckless Endangerment (M2) •Driving Under the Influence (DUI) (M) •Driving on the Wrong Side of a Divided Highway (TIA) •Driving While License Under Restraint/Suspended (TIA) Excellent observation and quick coordination by our deputies helped prevent what could have resulted in serious injury or worse to other motorists.

NEW: 21-year-old semi-truck driver arrested on suspicion of DUI in a horrific crash on the 10 Freeway in Ontario, California. California Highway Patrol investigators say the man, from Yuba City, was believed to have been on drugs. Eight vehicles were involved in the crash, and three people sadly lost their lives. A driver led police on a pursuit Sunday evening around 7 p.m. after initially fleeing a traffic stop in East Bethel for equipment and seatbelt violations. State Patrol first attempted the stop near Highway 65 and Viking Blvd. NE after noticing the vehicle had no rear lights and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver fled and began driving the wrong way southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 65. Troopers discontinued the pursuit due to safety concerns. The driver later corrected, and Anoka County deputies re-engaged the pursuit in Blaine. Authorities say the driver again drove the wrong way on Highway 65, continuing onto County Rd. 10 and then Interstate 694 before exiting onto Lexington Ave. in Shoreview, where Ramsey County deputies took over. The pursuit continued south on Lexington Ave. N. to Highway 36, then west to Interstate 35W into Minneapolis. Deputies successfully deployed stop sticks, but the driver continued at a high rate of speed and the pursuit was again called off. The vehicle exited into downtown Minneapolis, where dispatchers lost visual tracking through traffic cameras. Officers are searching the area for the driver, and the State Patrol airplane will be overhead to assist shortly.
