ALERT: Officer fired after viral confrontation shows him dragging an 18-year-old black woman by her hair in Texas. A Royse City Police Department officer, who hasn't been named, has been fired after responding to an altercation at a community pool. The officer can be seen dragging a woman by... her dreadlocks, and the department said that was in violation of its standards, policies, and procedures. The department said the actions of the 3 other officers, one of whom pushed a woman with a baby in her arms, were justified and within departmental policies. The department will not pursue charges against the 18-year-old woman arrested, but a 35-year-old woman will possibly face charges of interference with public duties and resisting arrest.show more

The police officer was sent to the hospital for a head injury and remains in serious condition. 28-year-old Jamaysha Butler could be seen trying to flee the scene when the Beaumont, Texas officer tried stopping her.
