Known for creating urgent emotional intensity by singing songs of love, protest, and Black empowerment in a dramatic style, with a rough-edged voice, Simone’s bearing and stage presence earned her the title “the High Priestess of Soul”. Onstage, she incorporated monologs and dialogues with the audience into the program, and often used silence as a musical element. A friend of Langston Hughes, James Baldwin, Lorraine Hansberry, and neighbour of Malcom X, she became involved in the the civil rights movement. She was deeply immersed in movement politics, debates and organizing. Interesting things about Taurie Cain's lore that got changed in development, I lightly touched on some of this before: - She was not meant to have a name, only being known as a cultist to showcase her life of servitude and dedication to the Entity. - Her early beginnings were that she lost her family somehow and was homeless in the streets of Edinburgh (changed to Glasgow). The reason she joined the cult was to both have a community but also a place for warmth and food. The cult saved her. - She was a hardened and rebellious punk who had to do what she could to survive alone on the cold streets, this is why her default is kind of... homeless chic lmao. - She, in fact, HAD killed before in the name of the cult. She would've been the first original Survivor to have killed an innocent soul by her hand *intentionally*. This was later changed to where she hesitated on her first and only kill attempt and it cost her everything. - I don't know the circumstances of how or why she was taken by the Entity as a Survivor (and not a Killer) in her original lore.

While Naipoki settled in to feed, Nsimba lay down beside her and slept – the way calves do when their mothers have brought them somewhere safe. Naipoki was rescued in December 2010 from a well in Samburu, around two months old. Fifteen years on, she is living wild, and Nsimba is her first calf. It was a heartbreaking and unimaginable scene, one that no child should ever be part of. Yet, from that tragedy, a life was saved. Ndahigwa, who was not himself targeted during the genocide and worked with the Red Cross, chose compassion over fear. In a time when many turned away, he stepped forward. He rescued Mimi and raised her as his own, caring for her from infancy through adulthood. He gave her not only a chance to live, but a chance to grow, to be loved, and to belong. He stood by her side through the years, supporting her until she eventually got married. However, her marriage did not last, as her husband constantly pressured and mistreated her, questioning her about a family she never had the chance to know.
