Aliyev says Azerbaijanis must return to Armenia, "their historical lands." He says Tsarist Russia settled Armenians in the South Caucasus, thus denying that they're indigenous. Aliyev is implicitly referencing the "Western Azerbaijan" project here, and it's happening more and more as "peace" draws nearer. This is the Fizuli district of #Azerbaijan. Most of this district was occupied by Armenia from 1993 to 2020. Everything there is destroyed and looted. But pretty much none of the Western “human rights activists”, “experts,” or “analysts” not only did not condemn but did not even mildly criticize #Armenia for that because, for these people, the lives of Azerbaijanis have no value. They believe that Azerbaijanis could be expelled, killed, and tortured. #Karabakh

In fact, this is what the former president has to say about Armenia joining the EAEU: "There was no coercion whatsoever, not even a millimeter of pressure from Russia. Moreover, for two years I personally asked and proposed to Russia that they accept us into the EAEU. Because it was obvious that if we did not become a member of the EAEU, we would face numerous internal problems in the country. 300,000 farm businesses in Armenia are engaged in agriculture. This is our largest sector. With the EU, we had GSP+, which provided trade preferences, but those never applied to Armenian cognac, fruits, and so on. Besides that, there was also the issue of fuel imports. It is one thing to get gas at 135 dollars and another at 250 dollars."

Azerbaijan blackmailed Armenia with #military attacks and tried to get the Zangezur Corridor, but the Armenian side refused to fulfill this demand. Aliyev revealed today that Russia supported Azerbaijan's illegal Zangezur Corridor project. Thus, it becomes clear why Russia refused to fulfill its security obligations towards Armenia. Russia has created a security vacuum both in Armenia and Nagorno #Karabakh. Russia aims to get a corridor from Armenia through military blackmail of Azerbaijan. Armenia is no longer alone. #EU observers are in Armenia, preventing large-scale attacks by Azerbaijan. I hope that the #Western partners once again became convinced of the existence of the Russian-Azerbaijani tandem. The West is obliged to strengthen #economic, military, #energy, and #political support to Armenia so that it is possible to confront the Russian-Azerbaijani aggressor couple. Armenian PM Pashinyan: "For two centuries, Armenian-Russian relations have been built on the foundation and understanding that Russia is the guarantor of the security of the Armenian people and the Armenian state. I have never questioned Russia’s commitment to fulfilling this role, but the developments of 2021, 2022 and 2023 showed that, due to its own security challenges, the Russian Federation can at times face significant limitations in its ability to perform this role. We saw this in September 2022, and we saw it again in September 2023. And this is where we once again came face to face with the fact that we have failed to learn the lessons of our history." He said Armenia will apply to join the EU and would not object to being expelled from CSTO.
