All 50 states would block Elon Musk from teaching a high-school physics class because he doesn’t have an arbitrary government-issued "teaching certificate." We’ve got professionals and retirees in all 50 states—engineers who built bridges, pilots who’ve flown across the world, and doctors and nurses who’ve saved lives—who would love... show more

@elonmusk I taught biology on the college level, but can't at the high-school level for this reason. 🤷🏽

@elonmusk Insane. We have to fix this, Charlie

@elonmusk Excellent idea! We need fresh teachers who have real-world experience to breathe life and excitement back into the American classrooms.

@elonmusk ❤️

@elonmusk No, all states would block Elon Musk from teaching high-school physics because Musk knows very little about physics, actually and in addition is a fascist

@elonmusk As a retired teacher of 13 years, YES 🙌🏻

@elonmusk Elizabeth, thank you for your service to our kids!

@elonmusk You’re welcome, a lot of good conservative teachers in school districts, they’re just not in the unions. Conservatives must take back the institutions, the struggle sessions are now in the Maoist school districts. It’s despicable!

@elonmusk Meanwhile they’re fine with illegal criminals as Superintendent. As long as they’re pushing DEI, BLM, and CRT.

@elonmusk A degree in teaching these days has little to do with the subject being taught and more to do with teaching methodology which, looking at test scores and failure rates, isn’t benefiting anyone. Parents shouldn’t have to hire tutors because they aren’t learning in school.

@elonmusk If they'd love to teach so badly what's stopping them from getting qualified to teach? Should be the easiest thing they've done.

@elonmusk I mean… he shouldn’t teach physics because he fucking sucks at it and knows nothing about it

@elonmusk @elonmusk isn't qualified to teach physics... regardless of a degree

@elonmusk Imagine being taught a useful subject by someone who has worked with it for years, instead of those who learn the subject in school, only to turn around and teach it to the next class without having any practical experience. What a concept!

@elonmusk New York State “Education” building in Albany, NY. Massive symbol of inept bureaucracy cloaked in virtue.

@elonmusk I remember some years ago we had a shortage of math teachers..well-qualified military retirees offered to teach calculus and were turned down because they refused to take the stupid courses to get certified.

@elonmusk When we moved the last time, my husband thought he might teach in our local high school, until he found out about the ridiculous courses he'd have to take to get 'certified,' after teaching at the university level already for 10 years. He went back to teaching at a university.

While you're at it, why don't you get rid of medical licenses too. Lot's of grandmothers with expert knowledge on taking care of people. They know all the remedies. All jokes aside, being an expert in a field does not mean you know how to educate a classroom full of 25 different students and all that goes with that. There are numerous different learning styles and behavior issues teachers need to know and understand. Education is so much more than just being an expert in specific field.

@elonmusk

@elonmusk Homeschool co-ops have been using "teachers" just like this.

Left a full career as a systems engineer and integrator, went to teach Engineering in HS for less than I paid in taxes the year prior. Was told I'd have to take a full curriculum of college courses to continue to teach. I'm in my 50s and retired, there's no ROI in that much college cost. Left after a year.

@elonmusk A government issued teaching certificate should *disqualify* you to teach. The cert is a stamp you've been indoctrinated to destroy kids ability to think critically and creatively. That's how upside down and corrupt things are now.

@elonmusk How about just raise their pay instead of lowering the requirements

@elonmusk Teaching certificates are a joke. They know everything about their pronouns and next to nothing about the subject they are teaching.

I once taught school with my BS in Biology. However, the alternative certificate program is flawed. I no longer can teach, tho I did nothing wrong. (To make a long story short.) Massive shortages in science and math, but they don't want folks that are degreed in subject matter only. It's also a broken system.

@elonmusk Like I’ve been saying, dismantle the accreditation con

@elonmusk It’s all a big scam. Aspiring teachers have to pay for each exam, usually 3, and it’s pass/fail in many states. Then, they have to pay for the conditional teaching certificate, and the final license. None of this prepares anyone for teaching in a classroom.

@elonmusk Teachers' unions gave up working for students and became a flat out labor union, complete with the worst trappings of labor unions... Freedom of thought and speech were stifled, education becomes a political football, and the "leaders" seemed to be making a LOT of money.

@richardgalaxia @elonmusk I have wanted to guest teach science for YEARS to high schoolers (9 yrs college and doctorate) but I was told this exact thing!!!! No way I am jumping through those hoops. Meanwhile local teaching quality continues to nosedive (public schools)

@snooze06155136 @elonmusk Besides the volunteering aspect: The masters degree or extensive college to be able to teach means that military people who have served our country have a huge barrierof time to become a teacher. That means fewer patriotic ex-military people being part of our kids’ lives.

Knowing the trade and teaching the trade is not same thing and more often than not, better you are in your trade, worse teacher of it you are. I live by programming and in my spare time i 3D print ALOT, but i would be god awful teacher of both. Elon Musk would be even worse. For christs sake, he has aspegers. His social skills are bad at best. Being teacher is way more than simply knowing something about something.

@elonmusk Imagine what bottom-ranked New Mexico could do if they would tap into the thousands of brilliant engineers, scientists, & physicists who work/retire from the state’s 2 national laboratories, multiple aerospace companies, & Intel. It’s almost criminal.

@elonmusk Elon Musk is neither a physicist nor and engineer. But more importantly, he has ties to Ghislaine Maxwell and other pedophiles like Donald Trump, and that's why he shouldn't be in schools.

@0ptimisticape @elonmusk The true goal of the teacher's union is NOT to ensure great teaching but to make sure that they keep complete control and brainwashing of the kids!

@elonmusk Wrong cuz then you can just teach whatever you want. There is a curriculum for a reason. Elon Musk is a moron. I wouldn’t want him teaching my kids either.

@elonmusk Truth! My X husband has his PhD in bioanalytical chemistry can teach at a University or college but can't teach k-12. He's also unemployed as a result.

@elonmusk So get a teaching certificate or be a guest lecturer. You can't run a classroom on instinct, likely.
@elonmusk I would prefer to be taught by someone without a teaching credential.
