Fun fact. Season 1 of Boondocks was animated by Mad House. A Japanese animation studio. And for season 2+ it was animated by Moi Animation from South Korea.

I think the biggest problem is that anime fans go into these shows with certain expectation in mind based on popular anime instead of allowing shows like Boondocks and Invincible Fight Girl to exist as their own entity.

They just don't know ball, I'm afraid.
