I think the disconnect is y’all are describing manipulative behavior but not people pleasers. If that lady was a people pleaser that cake would’ve been exactly how he wanted to the t. Because anything deviating from that would leave the people pleaser open to rejection

I’m a people pleaser. I would’ve made that devil chocolate cake the way he liked it! If I wanted to add or thought about it I’d ask him before I would do something. If he said no cake? Okay no cake. It’s not hard to listen to your partner.

None of this is people pleaser behavior. A people pleaser would have first made him exactly what he wanted. Their goal is to please the other person not to do what they want instead. A people pleaser also wouldn’t try to be confrontational, let alone confrontational in front of other and would not be able to kick him out nor want to. This is narcissistic manipulative behavior not people pleaser behavior. Everything was about herself, what she wanted, and making herself look good. A people pleaser would just be trying to make sure he had a great day and was happy and wouldn’t even be thinking of herself at all.
