What this fight reminds me of, is how much of a prodigy Sasuke was. To go after a single tailed beast was a feat that required Jonin level skills to barely succeed. He, fresh with new abilities, went after the 8 tails, and had him using tricks to make it out alive.

This whole fight is my favorite in all of anime. Sasuke nearly died 3 times, his crew nearly got wiped out, and in the end what he brought back to the akatsuki was a lump of meat.

Sasuke was very skilled here with his dojutsu and weapon use, but still nothing compared to a jinchuriki who mastered the tailed beast's power.
