I loved travelling in Finland because of this very thing. They said what they meant and meant what they said. No excess words. It was great.

It's interesting learning about other cultures. But the reason given that it was a rural society until "100-150 years ago" is just bunk when you consider MOST still very rural societies today do not hold the belief that talking to strangers is "dangerous." This is unique to them.
