Didn't they say at the start of Death Battle that they're using dream Saitama since he's the only one shown to take damage? Because once you accept that, it all makes perfect sense. Dream Saitama also doesnt scale exponentially. And can be as strong as he wants to be.

Now tell me what retconned feats they were talking bout? Oh well I'm 99% sure you didn't read OPM manga so I'll tell you. There's only 1 retconned feat where Saitama has caught Empty Void's attack from outside the world. Saitama was able to touch portal BEFORE that btw.
