the only good thing I can say is its remarkable how the washboard fills out the sound

Kept relistening to this last night and something snapped, I like it again. The backing instrumentation is actually good and the vocals are so obscene and excessive that they're enjoyable in the way picking at a scab is enjoyable

The collapse of folk punk has left nasal, raspy voiced male singers wandering the streets, this time without a band.

There are a lot of obvious things to say about this but the intentionally untrimmed guitar strings drive me nuts. Every other overdone parody of poverty can be dismissed as part of the act or a relic of the times, but the strings feel like an affront to me personally.

A folk punk phase is kind of like chicken pox, you're supposed to get it at least once or else there will be trouble down the road

There's a progression/melody that reminds me of an overplayed circa '94 Jawbreaker song that just happens to be one I wasn't terribly fond of. Injecting the lone-horn-playing-the-pop-punk-lead-with-the-tone-of-a-forgotten-Asian-Man-ska-band forced me to do a load of laundry.

Partied with them a few times way before they did the song with LOC. One of my friends got scabies from sitting near a DND groupie. Good times I guess?

One of those rare cases where I think the song itself is solid but it’s being performed badly. This exact same song played note for note by Bad Religion or Rancid would be totally fine. I think I just can’t get past my hate for folk punk. Washboard player is killing it though.

Brings back memories of when I lived with crust punks and I would have to attempt to go to sleep while they were drunk as fuck signing this shit word for word bar for bar.

Some kind of pop punk skiffle. Irritating lyrics and vocals, kind of fun musically.
