It’s estimated that 1 million pangolins have been captured in the wild & illegally sold on the black market. IFAW is working with partners to wipe out wildlife crime, but we need your help. Pledge to protect pangolins and other exploited wildlife around the world.

An orphaned grizzly cub and an older polar bear have just become best friends at the Detroit Zoo 🐻✨ Grizzly cub Jebbie was found wandering alone in Alaska, unable to survive on his own. He was transported to the Detroit Zoo in July, where he met Laerke, a lonely polar bear cub who was also growing up without a mother bear. The two quickly became close companions, and the zoo says they do everything together, including 'running, chasing each other, wrestling, rolling around, and lots of typical bear play. 💖💥

#Breaking: Several hours after this incident, CPW announced that the bear died. Colorado Parks and Wildlife worked earlier to rescue a 1-year-old bear who was struck by a vehicle in Lone Tree. Just found out the bear didn’t make it.

Someone was asking about Jimbo. Jimbo was a kodiak bear who weighed over 1500 pounds and still over 10.5 feet tall. He came to us as a cub and died a few years ago from liver cancer. He lived a long time and had a good life but had been born from captive born parents in a wildlife “park” that went bankrupt. He couldn’t be released and he lived out his life here at the Orphaned Wildlife Center. He was very much loved and being given a cake for his birthday. And yes - that is Leo in this video with him. :)
