Loved the novel, and love this cast. But the screenplay adaptation here is weak, with too many Walking Dead tropes that weren’t in the book. The whole Grand Junction plot is so absurd it may as well be from a different film.

Shoving this down our throats like crazy. It was a very boring movie. The only good part was Brolin and he didn’t do all that much in it. 2 hour movie that made me feel like I was trapped in a theater for 5 hours. I was the only one in my showing, the theater said it’s a failure.

It was a terrific novel. But the screenplay is weak. There were bad plot changes. The Grand Junction scene was whacked. I know Hig was supposed to be grieving, but I found him mopy. The timing is not great either, with people being burned out on the end of the world scenario.

Awesome movie, thoroughly enjoyed it. This will be one of those movies you'll catch later at home and wonder why didn't more people go see it.

Stupid title and the bizarre cannibal sequence were downers but otherwise engaging story of grief and new love . It was thought to be action movie but more of drama with some action .

I watched it last night and thought it was fantastic. Great performances and it looks beautiful. It builds to an intense climax and deserves so much better than it’s receiving. I’ll be thinking about this movie for a long time.

People are conflating “it’s a commercial success” versus “it’s a good movie”. The two often do not go hand-in-hand. There’s a lot of good movies that don’t make money (or not a ton). There are also tons of movies that suck but make lots of money.

Probably a case of "I think I saw this movie before", and the marketing and release date don't scream a reason to go watch this in on a theater. Plus, Ridley's last movies haven't been "must see", but they get an audience as soon as it hits streaming

Actually, it was a beautiful movie. The cast was great. I loved it! Critics don’t seem to like anything sweet, romantic, or meaningful. The movie reminded me of an old Hollywood movie.
