People know and identify Galaxy phones more than Pixel, it's a worldwide brand.

Why does Google showcase Samsung? Because of Huawei. Huawei is starting to be the leader in phones and will over take Samsung on a non-US basis. H no longer uses Android and it is imperative in a device first world that Android stays the most relevant. They are the only brand in their quiver that can compete.

Isn't it obvious? If you demo a new feature on a Pixel phone, it's not always clear if it's Pixel exclusive or not. They use Samsung when they want to promote the Android ecosystem. Their biggest competitor is Apple, not other Android OEMS.
