Alternative to a dead battery…

Graphite is only the conductor, that is, it cannot supply any current/energy/power to the device. Hence it cannot be the alternative of the cell.

Yes it's working because ✏️ pencil led was good conductor of electricity So circut was completed 😎

AA 1.5v x 2= 3v rated voltage. Don’t work.

This is rubbish, the device is designed to work from 3 volts using 2 batteries. The graphite becomes a massive resistor, stepping down the 1.5 volts of the single battery to a very small voltage. It can't possibly work.

Or could have used literally ANY metallic object.

It is very useful in emergency...
