Germany’s Old Gun Beat a Modern Threat The Gepard 1A2 is a German self propelled anti aircraft system armed with twin 35mm cannons and advanced radar. Originally built during the Cold War, it has proven that gun based air defense still has a place in modern warfare. Designed to counter low flying aircraft and drones, the Gepard has become one of the most effective anti drone systems on the battlefield. But is it a long term solution, or just a stopgap in the age of missiles and mass drone warfare?
