Amazing skills 😍

There’s a reason why solid shafts are made from one piece of steel. Although this might work, the steel shaft will now have many added failure points.

Hard to believe that constitutes a repair. Heating destroyed the metallurgical strength. Nothing was done to restore the strength. Looks nice. He should be an artist or a conman and turn it into a lamp. But it should never pass as a viable repair.

Well... that'll work in a pinch. Maybe until the real parts come in. But every gear that contacted those splines, will also need to be replaced. There's a lot of engineering that goes into the contact points of teeth that a handheld grinder can never match.

Amazing engineering for a video. Thst shallow weld wont be able to stand the stress.

Fair point! 👀 The real question is whether it would actually survive under serious stress. Would you trust that weld? 🔧 🤔

Perfectly fine before it broke?! 😆✌️

The AI voice is absolutely crap, can we just stop that?

I guess if you absolutely cannot get another one this makes sense, but with a skill set like that I’m sure he could make a lot more money doing something else.

Sorry I'll just buy a new one.

So lets disassemble the gears by wacking them with a hard face hammer.

Getting a new shaft is significantly better. Even high quality engineering repairs leave microstructural weaknesses heat-affected zones and micro alignments that dramatically reduce fatigue life, leaving the mended shaft vulnerable to sudden failure under load.

That’s a fair point 👀 But if the repair is done properly, how much does the actual operating load and repair quality affect the shaft’s lifespan? 🔧 🤔

Nah wont be the same. Buy a new one. The integrity is compromised

The shaft hardness is reduced. It’s a good repair but wouldn’t last as long as a brand new and properly hardened shaft.

Throw that crap away and turn it to something new never put crap in people’s cars.

"Getting a new one is better" "I'll just get a new one" Blah blah blah There a reasons why you see these guys doing things their way, countries like Pakistan, India, Afghanistan and so on most of them live in a remote area where "Getting a new one" isn't readily or easily accessible then comes their weather and things like that i have seen them fix a broken padlock, yes something like that should be cheap right but no they rather fix it than buying new these people prefer the old working machines than new, i did some little research you should too

Exactly! 👏 There’s a lot of context behind why people repair instead of replace. What looks unnecessary to us can be practical, affordable, and even more sustainable for them. 🔧🌍 Would you choose repair or replace? 👀

Getting a new one is better we all know that but they do things their own way due to less availability or opportunity

Arrrrgh…..that is the sorriest repair job I’ve ever seen. Total gearbox failure is only a few high torque events away from happening. Hopefully that beautifully “hand reground” gear (🙄) will have time to lap itself into the mating gear before failure. This was just silly.

If you understand gears you'd realize this isn't the answer on a high speed gear. He would have to grind the involute and lead on this gear to a high tolerance, because if he didn't it would be noisy as hell. That renders this video pretty much nothing but bullshit.

Everything they do is half assed. Then they wonder why the whole world has no respect for them.

I get the frustration 😅 But what do you think they should actually do differently? 👀

According to the car design, the shaft is meant to be a solid piece of steel. By patching it back together, the structural integrity of the shaft is compromised which will cause more mechanical issues and necessitate more repairs over time.

That’s a fair point. A repair may restore function, but the real question is whether it can safely handle the same load and stress as the original shaft. Would you trust it under heavy use? 🤔🔧

He used a grinder to smooth the splints? I mean maybe a milling machine.... but no, all the accuracy of a hand held master grinder.

No case hardening carried out on the teeth of the replacement segment means the part will wear prematurely. The threaded portions will be a weak point, much weaker than the original part and will shear under normal running conditions.

You can do anything if your time isn't worth anything

You can always tell when a jeet did the prompt for the video narration. This type of glaze is completely unnecessary.

Can't use glue? Wait until they hear about the glue SpaceX and Tesla use; stuff doesn't know how to let go, and it's better than welding when dealing with two different types of metal.

“Which was perfectly fine before it broke” You must’ve woke up this morning and decided to be a genius huh?

This is crap. And he used hand grinder to a gear. Not only welded and heated the steel. That’s no way that piece could work.

“was deemed repairable by a veteran mechanic in the shower” COME ON!! 🤣😂🤣

😂😂 That mechanic clearly has a different definition of “repairable”! But honestly, would you trust the repair? 👀🔧

Yeah those aren't supposed to be fixed like that

No eye protection. Loose clothing, Safety sandals. Do they have a line of ‘mechanics’ to replace him when he loses an eye, gets dragged into the lathe, or drops something on his yellow toes and loses them?

It was perfectly fine before it broke! No fkn shit. 🤣

Never trust 3rd world indian labor or products.

Holey fucking dog shit. There’s about a 0% chance that holds up. Not to mention the mating part is going to get destroyed.

Pakistans are so talented people , I hope they get their leadership right one day

Why the trouble.just go buy another gear bro

No, this will not work. Then every gear that came in contact with this shit will need to be replaced. That bullshit lost it's heat treat. Many isdues with this garbage.

They do this in India because they have no choice. The part is extremely expensive the labor is cheaper. And the more you do it the better you get at the craft. In America it would been cheaper to buy a new part. Got to love the craftsmanship though 👍

I’ll forward this onto Rolls Royce as they maybe able to copy this in their nuclear reactors or plane engines. I think they could pick some up from their local scrap yard.
