**AMAZON WORKERS DENIED SHELTER DURING TORNADO** Multiple Amazon delivery drivers tell me management at an Oklahoma warehouse locked them and dozens of others out of the building during a tornado warning, capturing the entire thing on camera. DETAILS:

One time during a tornado years ago, we had someone run into our friends house we were at and into the basement. We asked everyone if they knew that person and we said no. she said she ran from her car off the highway and she made it in just before it hit. We welcomed her.

How many times does this need to happen for Amazon to face something like heavy crippling fines? At the very least?

If Amazon officials ordered this, they should be fired. If the security guard made this decision himself, he should be fired. Workers should report it internally to initiate an investigation, but if no response go through OSHA.

I worked in an Amazon warehouse for 5 years. As an American who understands capitalism, I'm against Amazon. Phrase it how you want - it's a monopoly. Plain & simple. Monopolies are illegal in USA but Amazon reigns supreme here. That said - as an employee, I will attest until the day I die: Amazon does more for their employees than any company I've worked at in the past 50+ years. The company's safety practices are ironclad, include everyone & leave no one behind. Individual managers are another story.

@MelisaGillett I’m thinking this was actually for their safety. Being in a warehouse with shelving and products everywhere would be a lot more dangerous if the tornado hit the building imo. Curious to see if amazon makes a statement.

Unless that warehouse had a storm shelter inside, it would literally be the worst place to “shelter”

Any business in hurricane alley should be required to have a basement large enough to shelter any humans in the area. It should be a construction must to be approved.

In a situation like this, there really aren’t any good options during a tornado. A car is the worst place to be; warehouse buildings are routinely ripped apart by tornadoes. But if those are your only two options , the warehouse was definitely safer. Great reporting Spencer!

So the thing is is that flex workers are not amazon workers they are sub contract workers and amazon doesn't want to be responsible for there safety and doesn't have to be. I'm so glad every one was safe though!
