@antoniabance Heroic is voting against the goverment on Tuesday. My late dad was a union rep and loved his union. This Tuesday be an advocate for him and keep his wife warm this winter. They worked in factories on piece work to get a pension. Remember them.

Instead of recognizing the Teamsters, Amazon has resorted to even more abusive union-busting tactics, illegally firing over 100 unionized drivers at the facility without warning. One amendment argued for extra criminalisation of sexual harassment at work. BUT, the wording used is 'people of different GENDER identities including women & girls'. The problem, as in workplaces, is that giving gender dominance means women - like the Darlington Nursing Union nurses - are themselves harassed, and their harassers backed by bosses. Constant interruptions during my speech meant I lost my flow, but you get my gist:

This is a hot take—but it shouldn't be. For decades, Liberals and Conservatives have built a system that not only allows, but encourages, corporate landlords to put profits before people. New Democrats will ban corporate landlords from buying up affordable buildings and jacking up rents. Because no one should live in fear of losing their home. We're not in it for rich corporate landlords. We're in it for you.

On Thursday afternoon we had our first Lords debate on the Employment Rights Bill. The chamber was full of ex TUC big wigs and corporate bosses. Weird. The Bill too easily conflates workers' rights with union bureaucrats' rights. But some rights are more equal than others. When employers attack free speech of R&F staff, TUs often not just fail to be allies but worse, side with HR or try to censor their own members. Ask Kathleen Stock, for example. It's why the Darlington nurses have set up their own union. It’s why we need the Free Speech Union. I’m not sure all those public-sector union leaders sitting with the government were very happy with me.

Democrat members of Congress are getting paid, but they’re withholding TSA workers pay checks. Democrats in Congress have chosen to not fund Homeland Security, which means that all of our TSA workers who showed up today are not getting paid. The men and women of TSA work hard to make sure you and your loved ones can fly safely. This political theater is only making it hard on them and their families. If you see a TSA officer today, thank them!

This morning at 7am I joined NYSNA on their picket line at Mt. Sinai where they are on strike for a fair contract. What's radical is not the nurses very reasonable demands, but Mt. Sinai's nasty union-busting, firing 3 workers just last night, and forcing NYSNA to bring unfair labor practice actions in front of Trump's NLRB (which everyone knows is rigged). It's a rotten economy where the nurses who care for us when we're sick have to strike for proper staffing ratios, safe working conditions, and decent healthcare benefits of their own. The least we can do is have their backs.
