When I grew up on a diet of Twinkies and Orange Crush, ADHD hadn't been labeled yet. But I was really active, so I burned off all that sugar. My attention deficit was more due to boredom, and that really had more to do with teaching than with parenting. I loved to learn, just not anything in school. Stuff that interested me, I hyper-fixated on (my ASD1 hadn't been labeled yet either). Stuff that teachers taught, I could barely sit still long enough to endure. I was just disciplined a lot. Though, thank God, I grew up before Ritalin was passed out like Halloween candy. I tutored inner-city kids for 3 years back in the 1990s. Many of them were like me. The way the teachers taught didn't engage them. But I had my middle-school-age boys doing advanced algebra because I used sports statistics with their favorite players. These same kids were barely passing arithmetic. Though you really can't fault the teachers that much either. They had classrooms where the teacher-to-student ratio was over 30 to 1. Plus, they had to teach to the standardized testing curriculum. Minor correction: psychologists don't prescribe drugs.

What about all drugs that play a role in mental? People and whole system is a failure as rich and elite grow

I know an autism dad who would take his severely impacted son to different therapist and say, “here fix him.” it doesn’t work like that. The parents need to be involved.

Maybe it’s the kids getting instant gratification from screens who parent them more than some parents? Maybe parents have to work 2 jobs to keep food on the table these days?

I’ve seen a kid under 5 on ADHD meds, and they got very sick from that medication. It’s insane.

It all comes down to single mothers.

Parenting is a skill, and America is really bad at cultivating that skill.

Perfect description of my own parents in the early 2000's, but in that time luckily (for other kids, not for me) it was not common, nor trending, I was the only child in my school brutally medicated. Everything after that went to shit even more. Because I was like drunk each time
