Last night I went to Publix to get beer for opening night - there was only one 4 pack of Moosehead. Nothing else canadian on the shelf. was looking for one last labatts - that was my NHL opener beer for decades. I bought Yuengling, Anerica’s oldest brewery instead.

The losses Canada is suffering from the trade war will never be replaced. There is no one else to buy Canadian goods. America conversely will fully replace all Canadian exports and other countries are happy to take their place. It’s already started with SK, Japan deals

Carney claims the Canada will replace the US market with Europe, Asia, and other players. My question is this, how likely will it be that the current suppliers to those markets will be replaced by Canadian producers? Will those markets abandon their existing suppliers just because of Orange Man Bad and Carney Good or will it be an up hill battle for Canadian producers to break into established supply chains. Occam’s razor would suggest the latter.

It is very competitive to get a product in a major chain store and difficult to keep it in the States. Even if you get it, they will only put you in several stores to test your product before expanding. I wonder how many companies will let Canadian products back in after all this. The quote Carney recited is ironically accurate, “time kills all deals.”
