This forms part of a parliamentary-level discussion where EFF member Carel Niehaus posed questions to the ANC Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development (Mmamoloko Kubayi). In his questions and in her answers, there is a direct attempt to deny the right of Afrikaners (and Orania) to exist. Their statements stand in direct opposition to the Constitution. Niehaus claims that Orania’s very existence is “wrong,” and the minister makes the outrageous remark that Article 235 (the right to self-determination) “cannot really be valid because Afrikaners have a history of racism.” She also makes the absurd statement that “Afrikaners are doing so well in South Africa, and that they face no threats,” and therefore, she supposedly believes that “self-determination rights are unnecessary.” The minister even claims that “most racism is committed by white people”! Niehaus goes so far as to say that place names and street names from Afrikaner history are “racist,” and asks whether the minister would ever consider prison sentences as a response to things such as the existence of Orania and similar communities! The US Government just told an Afrikaner-delegation that the following four preconditions must be met before any normalization of bilateral relations between the United States and South Africa can happen. 1. Farm attacks and farm murders be classified as priority crimes 2. ANC publicly distances itself from and condemns "Kill the Boer" and "Kill the farmer" 3. Expropriation of any property only takes place subject to fair compensation and only after all legal processes have been exhausted 4. American companies be exempted from black economic empowerment legislation This was what they shared with the delegation of Afrikaners namely Corné_Mulder Theo de Jager Gerhard Papenfus . As an Afrikaner in Orania, I ask; What about adding a fifth condition; namely that the accord on Afrikaner Self-determination that the government signed in the 1990’s, and codified in article 235 of the South African constitution be honored? Is that not a good long term solution for stability, and prosperity?
