I think the figures of the top of my head are something like 80% of Americans don't own a kettle. I think it is something to do with your inferior 110V mains supply and 2 pin plugs compared to our 240V supply and 3 pin fused plugs with safety socket.

Friends posted overseas to US all said same thing about trying to make tea. US voltage system did not bring water to hot enough temperature for brewing tea. Do you notice a difference?

The point is, did you do the unthinkable and put the teabag into the cold water before putting it in the microwave. Or did you put the teabag in after heating the water. Either way is an abomination. 😂

I have a thermos that I put excess hot water from the kettle into if I boiled more than I needed to. I then reheat it when I need another cuppa/whatever boiling hot and it's not starting from cold. Don't waste that energy!! Yes, my grandmother was from Yorkshire.
