The restaurant should not charge the server 5%! Also everyone knows that servers rely on tips because the restaurant pays them a lower wage which is passed down to the customer. No tippers choose to remain ignorant or just don't care. When this happens everyone pays more. Do away with tipping and the business will just charge more! Then the service will likely suck!

They do not want 15$ minimum wage😂 they love the tips. Cause on 200$ table. They can litteraly get 30$ tip for just bringing plate and drinks to table😂 serve 5 table of 200$ and you get 150$/hour. Gov lower their minimum wage cause 99% of the time they get more on tips😅

Simple fix….. restraints should charge for the actual cost of the food which we end up paying anyways. That way the servers and restaurant staff can be payed their fair wage. Why make customers who are also trying to make ends meet like everyone else feel bad…..

Actually the parents who didn't clean up the mess before they left. I don't understand why parents think its ok for their children to make a mess in a restaurant and if they do clean it up, thats manners. The tip is between the server and the customer.

Everyone who hasn't been a server thinks its easy. Go serve 5 tables of 5 at the same time all night on a friday in a busy restaurant and see. You need to be on point and efficient at all times. Its a skill for sure.

Very easy to stop this at you place of work. Have locals/regulars video them making a mess, causing a disturbance and post it all over social media. People need to be shamed by other people for behavior like this. Others will see the posts, and will(hopefully) remind them....

Delivering plates to a table and drinks...and than has to (usual for waiters) clean up the table afterwards is what is written in the contract of the waiter. What else is he/she job above that? Those people ask about home training and education of the guests? Sorry,not sorry!

I have never heard of a server paying the restaurant a percentage of anything. How is that even possible that servers pay the restaurant now?

Restaurants should be required to pay minimum wage for each waiter. Customers should be able to tip them. It should not be compulsory to tip their waiters 15%.

Tipping is a privilege. You don't like what you make then find a job that actually pays you. Don't expect the public to pay for your poor life decisions. You earn a tip, not automatically granted. I always tip well but I won't tip for ringing up my order.

Keep in mind we don't have the full picture. Was she a good waitress? As in No attitude? Also, do they not have bussers? Not all restaurants have waiters/waitresses clean. The busser usually cleans the tables and floor of garbage. Not all restaurants do this so can't generalize🤷🏻‍♀️

5% seems a little high, but i guess it depends on the state some states tax servers on expected average tip amount... so even if no one tips, the server still needs to pay taxes on it. if that's what this is, the restaurant is calculating wrong... or just shafting her

I'm usually not a fan of "let's be like Europe" arguments. But when it comes to the tipping culture, we should go European. Over there, tipping is not expected. The restaurant owner pays staff a living wage. Sure there's a table fee, and you pay for the water, but no tips.
