He shared that life has really been tough he has been searching for a job for a long time without success. Two months ago, his house was locked, and since then, he has been sleeping on the streets. I wanted to help him pay the two months’ rent, but all he asked for was transport money to go back home to the village, where he at least has a place to stay and regroup. I listened and supported him with the fare so he can go home, plan afresh, and hopefully return to Nairobi or anywhere once an opportunity opens up. He is a chef and ready to work. I was sitting at a bus stop waiting for Andrew when a car suddenly pulled up. And out stepped the man from the store yesterday, the same man who had refused to let me pay for my food. He came running toward me with his phone in his hand, my picture on the screen, saying, “This is you! This is you!” Somehow, he had found me on Instagram and then driven up and down the highway looking for me until he found me sitting there at a bus stop. He opened his car and started pulling things out for me: cookies, water, and 2,000 hryvnia for my soldiers. That 2,000 UAH was added directly to the balance for thermal drones. What do you even say to something like that? Yesterday, he told me about his family in #Canada. Today, this man went looking for me on the road to Poltava because he wanted to help my boys and help me. I sat there at that bus stop with a very different kind of tears running down my face. There are days on this journey when I am tired, sore, overwhelmed, and wondering how I am going to keep putting one foot in front of the other. And then someone appears. Someone gives me food. Someone brings water. Someone donates. Someone drives out of their way. Someone refuses to let me pay. This man has rented his home out to the same couple for the last 10 years, they’ve always been good, and have never had any real issues. However recently due to inflation and high costs of repairs. He has finally raised the rent to make up for lost money. He seems to think they trashed the home, but when you think about it, the carpet would have had to be replaced by now anyways. The other things he seems to complain about by highlighting are mostly wear and tear. If you think about it, 10 years is a long time and if this is the wordy of it then he’s still pulling out ahead. Do you feel he’s being unreasonable or should he have updated and maintained the home better?

This man man had bought his son an iPad for Christmas. One day while visiting his son tells him that his brother keeps taking his iPad and doesn’t let him use it. The man was upset and he knows even though the other child isn’t his, he feels like he needs to speak up and set an example. He works hard to support his child and he provides for him very well. He doesn’t feel bad that the other kid’s in the house’s father’s don’t do anything for their kids, it’s not his concern. Is he wrong for talking to the other child like this, is he just looking out for his own kid, or is he being selfish and should have a little compassion because it’s not the other child’s fault their father isn’t providing for them as he should?
