Americans loved the '80s because it was a time when Americans recognized their fellow countrymen. They watched the same shows, listened to the same music, had the same traditions. It was a time when going to the mall didn't feel like going to a third world processing center.

Are you kidding? The mall was a great place to hangout in the 80’s, especially if it had an arcade! 🤣

To understand the 1980s you had to live in the 1970s. From Watergate to the serial incompetence of Jimmy Carter across multiple domains, the contrast under Reagan defined an era. We were happy and proud again.

And the eighties had Van Halen.

The 80s-90s in America was fucking great. It was so great. Despite everything going on in the world. It was an amazing time.

Love to teach you about the 80's and 70's. They had the best TV, movies and music.

I can say (from actual experience) that the same is true for the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s!

Why should we feel like strangers in our own home town?

My Dad worked hard in the oilfield in the 70s n 80s and invested in the stock market. Used that to build a 4 bedroom house 🏠 $25,000. With another $10,000 added 3 more rooms including a basement. Money went along ways back then.

Late '70s/'80s were a fantastic time to grow up in and be alive!

The Internet was a great idea that lead to a horrible outcome. It allowed all the crazies to find and communicate with each other without having to actually FIND each other IRL.

I hated going to the mall in the 1980's, if I was in a hurry. Because you knew everyone and everyone wanted to catch up on things. I took forever to walk through the mall. Now I know no one at the mall...I guess I kind of miss it now!

If you were just getting out on your own in the late seventies early '80s you were grateful as hell when Reagan got in and started fixing things. But you still had mortgage rates well in the teens. Starting out at that time was painful for years.

America peaked in the 80s. It’s been downhill ever since.

The mall WAS social media! Penn Square, Quail Springs, Crossroads. If you weren’t there on Friday or Saturday you were completely out of the loop.
