A Russian drone is adjusting a fire with four guided thermobaric bombs on the position of one of our brigades near the village of Lyptsi, a key village on the approaches to Kharkiv. The small landing is literally demolished by powerful explosions, and the hits are very accurate. After this strike, with the help of a drone adjustment, a Russian assault group went to assault the landing site. They were supported from above by a drone that dropped grenades. And even in such difficult conditions and after such strikes, a group of Ukrainian soldiers survived. And they, all shell-shocked, did not run away or surrender. A few Ukrainians dug themselves out of the trenches completely covered with earth, got up, and suddenly met the Russian assault group with aimed fire. Ukrainian heroes withstand a high density of enemy strikes, they fight to the death for every meter of land near Kharkiv and do everything possible and impossible. They know that they will not be covered from the air, they know they will have to equip their positions on the front line themselves with shovels, they know that the enemy has a lot of force. But they are Ukrainians, and behind them is Kharkiv, and next to them are their brothers-in-arms, who are fighting and also repelling all Russian attacks. Today, I visited one of our combat brigades at the Zaporizhzhia frontline, which uses American High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or HIMARS. Our guys are very open about these systems, and they are extremely grateful to the United States for providing them. HIMARS are a prime example of superior, highly precise, effective, and dependable American weapons. Without such long-range missiles, Russia would have killed hundreds of thousands more Ukrainians. Having the means to protect themselves from Russian terror is a matter of life and death for the Ukrainian people. HIMARS were critical in defending the Kherson region against the Russians. They also helped to thwart the Russian offensive on Sumy earlier this year. They are now assisting in the defense of the most difficult areas of the Donetsk frontline against Russian assaults. If we had not had these and other powerful long-range weapons, the Russians would have captured and destroyed many more Ukrainian cities and villages. Long-range capabilities prevent loss of life. It is one thing to lose munitions and missiles in order to stop the occupiers, but it is another to lose lives as a result of a lack of such defense capabilities. We are grateful to the United States for its assistance in reducing our loss of life. Strengthening positions is key to guaranteed peace. Russian bullies can only be deterred and forced to accept peace through strength. And such peace through strength is attainable.

Take a listen to the sounds above my home—and thousands of Ukrainian homes—this morning. Air defense is repelling Russian strikes. Ukraine has been under massive air attack since last night, with ballistic, cruise, and cluster missiles, as well as hundreds of drones, targeting people throughout the country. While Russia claims to be preparing for meetings to discuss peace, what it actually does is attack, terrorize, and destroy. Speaking of meetings, Russia has not so far sent us, Türkiye, the United States, or anyone else its so-called "memorandum." No one even knows what they are going to talk about. Instead, Russia launches new deadly attacks against Ukraine. Unlike the mythical "memorandum," we can clearly see and hear Russia’s true “messages”, its missiles and drones. Everyone needs to hear and see that Russia clearly rejects peace, ceasefire, and any constructive proposals from around the world. Russia will only become serious about peace once it feels another level of pressure.

This is the 3rd day in a row Russia has launched over a dozen FAB-500s strikes on the city. The main target appears to be the Motor production plant. This plant is massive and has been hit multiple times before with Russian missiles. In addition to FAB strikes, Russia also launched several Geran drones. I’m grateful to our warriors for their precision – today, Ukraine’s long-range sanctions have once again reached Perm, which is more than 1,500 kilometers from our border. Recently, there have also been important results in Chelyabinsk – up to 1,800 kilometers away, as well as in Yekaterinburg – nearly 2,000 kilometers away. The effects of Ukraine’s long-range capabilities have also been felt in Novorossiysk, Krymsk, Tuapse, and in the Samara and Nizhny Novgorod regions.
