The Kiaradua–Bagbagan route cracked open as the ground beneath it gave way, completely cutting off access to Palabuhanratu. Deep fractures are still widening, and the land is continuing to shift. A truck was nearly swallowed when the asphalt suddenly collapsed beneath it. The driver barely escaped. Police have shut the road entirely. Landslides, unstable soil, and ongoing rain have made it too dangerous to pass. This is what prolonged, intense rainfall does to weakened ground.
