An algae bloom has turned the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool murky green just weeks after it was painted “American Flag” blue for the America 250 celebration. Now, the blue paint and sealant are peeling off in pieces, and it's unclear when or how the problem will be fixed.

Shortly after the pool was refurbished, algae returned - turning the water green. Workers were told to dump hydrogen peroxide into the pool, dislodging sections of blue sealant in the process.
