Did you know The J.B.'s debut 'Food for Thought' (1972) is a goldmine for producers? Produced by James Brown with Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker & Bootsy Collins, tracks like "Pass the Peas" shaped the future of hip hop & dance music. 🥁🎧

I was lucky enough to see Fred, Maceo. And Pee Wee Ellis in the early nineties. Just beautiful funk, beautiful. Any James Brown track with Fred on is a masterpiece.

I got a question...

Not gonna lie, this has been my theme song for years. Sometimes I will play it on my phone as I walk into a room. An absolute funky gem.

Truth

Fred (Wesley)

"hey bobby why do you like soul food - because it makes me happy"

❤️

a sample I connect with pure hip hop history

The cornerstone of my food-themed playlist titled “Sop my way to the promised land” 🔥🔥

That trombone solo. So slippy

Uma das bases de tudo que eu gosto…não sabia a origem…obrigado!

My dad played with Cecil bridgewater in the USO during Vietnam. He is still playing at 83. ❤️
