A less experienced actress would have hammed this up but she really controlled it. Even the slam on the table was flawless
It makes me wonder if the film came out now…would she get an Oscar nom? Since the Academy is recognizing horror performances like Moore and Madigan.
I don’t think so. The Substance had Cannes and Weapons had the box office and Warner Bros campaign (A24 could barely campaign Rose with a more accessible genre/performance)
Good points
@RedSilverrBlue imagine if at the end dad was like “tea”
This is what an oscar snub looks like people... This scene alone deserve not only a nomination but to win...
THAT FUCKING FACE ON YOUR FACE
She is exceptional
When is this woman ever not good? Never.
I watched it for the first time this year and it was soooo good
watched this last night again and it hits like crack every time
It's insane how much emotions she goes through, and how she's able to not just scream but feel what she's saying. Worse actors who would just shout.
I love this scene! She’s amazing
remind me, movie is elevated horror about family trauma?
@MotherNature282 like i saw this scene before i saw the movie. very legendaric
@domthedent “Face on your face” is something I say to this day
it sure is great but every time I hear her say "I am your mother" in that cadence at the start, all I can think about is that SNL sketch with Fred Armisen as a mom in a pizza bagel commercial who can't act (from a while back before this).
this film was something else…
This movies done things to my mental that only good movies do but it still fucked me up
amy and demi you’re nothing.
