An answer engine should be able to answer basic facts about anything: but also not just get back to you with long summaries. High density units of information are essential. We have been working together with folks at Tako on going further with knowledge cards and visualizations on Perplexity.

Getting the latest stock or crypto spot price, comparing different stock prices, finding out how much the US has been lending to other countries like Ukraine or Israel, tracking the national debt, crime cases across states, and customizing these queries to specific timelines - all is possible now on one single search bar.

We have been doing this for a while already. When you search for people, you get knowledge cards that compress the essential information in a card, vs long bios. Not universally to every person on the planet yet. But that's the ambition as our index expands.

And same, for weather or time or basic math queries.

This is still being rolled out slowly, first to folks in the US, and then, rest of the world. And there are still some rough edges in coverage of comparison queries and more customization. But expect us to keep improving rapidly and make this very reliable. As well as add more interesting cards, widgets for sports, stocks, and news over time.

I loved working with Alex, Bobby and team from @Takoviz and also participating in their pre-seed round! The energy and obsession they got to fix bugs on Saturday nights at 1 AM together is the sign of a cracked and customer obsessed team that will go places. I look forward to continue working with them on many more things that will get shipped to Perplexity users.
