Dear X Design Who thought replacing the native Android gallery with the Google Photos media picker was a good idea? 🤦‍♂️ On Galaxy phones, I expect the app to open Samsung Gallery, not Google Photos. Now I have to: ❌ Dig through folders every time ❌ Re-select the same folder for every new attachment ❌ Spend more time finding photos than actually posting This is a massive UX downgrade. Android isn't one-size-fits-all. Respect OEM gallery apps and use the native media picker instead. Samsung Members gets this right. I've attached a video showing the difference. Agree? Repost so the X team sees this. 👇🏻

I say this, and in no means throwing shade at Cursor, but using the new design mode really makes me appreciate the speed of interactions in Figma and Framer. I will absolutely be testing it out in my own workflow, and love that an IDE finally is adding a browser view and selection UX for local dev support, especially one as powerful as cursor... But i'll wait until undo works. I mean... how am I supposed to design without cmd+z?

Started using React Native two days ago and immediately fell down a tab-bar rabbit hole. I’d seen Instagram and Revolut collapse their tab bars on scroll while keeping every icon visible. I wanted that without giving up real iOS Liquid Glass. Turns out iOS 26’s public API can’t express that state. UITabBarMinimizeBehavior is an enum of when, not what. With onScrollDown, UIKit minimizes the bar to the active tab alone. There’s no parameter controlling what survives. So most implementations rebuild the visible bar as a custom component. Some use genuine glass materials, but the real UITabBar is gone and with it, the native selection capsule: that little blob that moves like a drop of water between tabs. You can reproduce it with separate springs on the leading and trailing edges. I didn’t want a reproduction. I wanted UIKit’s. Then I remembered a Flutter app i built some months back which uses cupertino_native. Flutter runs the app while a platform-view bridge renders a real UIKit UITabBar. Finding expo-glass-tabs clarified the compact geometry I wanted. The two ideas clicked: why not bridge a real UITabBar into React Native? Here’s the trick: a standalone UITabBar has no UITabBarController managing it, so Apple’s minimization rule never applies. That means I can control its frame and items myself. Expo Router still owns navigation and screen lifecycle. React Native detects scroll direction. Swift removes and restores the real item labels, recentres the icons and animates the native bar’s size. All five icons remain visible. The result keeps Apple’s Liquid Glass, water-drop capsule, hit testing and accessibility, while adding a compact state its public API doesn’t provide. One gotcha tho: detaching the bar means reimplementing everything the controller previously gave you for free. Active-tab reselect scrolling was one example

This adorable little creature is a baby echidna, commonly known as a puggle! Echidnas (along with the platypus) are monotremes—the only mammals that lay eggs. The babies hatch tiny, pink, hairless, and underdeveloped, with a distinctive long snout (which will later help them eat ants and termites). Know that I say this with total love: what’s wrong with planting palm trees and banana trees in NC is that you’re destroying the natural beauty of this state. Palm trees are only native to a very small portion of Brunswick county. Banana trees? They’re not native at all. When I was growing up finding a palm tree? That was like magic. It was an experience that left you breathless. Today, transplants and developers have planted them all over Wilmington. A place they didn’t exist at all 30 years ago. You know what’s been lost as a result? Gorgeous live oaks dripping with Spanish moss and miles of longleaf pine forests. And it’s not just Wilmington that suffers from this invasion. You can find palm trees planted all over the coastal plain - all the way up through Raeford. They’re a hideous and tacky eyesore that destroys what North Carolina is really supposed to look like and it’s a threat to our natural heritage. If you want palms… if you want banana trees, move further South. 🙏🏼
