"The ship was seized in the North Atlantic based on an order issued by a U.S. federal court," the command said in a statement. The tanker, previously known as Bella-1, was seized for violating the U.S. blockade. During the pursuit, the ship changed jurisdiction and was re-registered under the Russian flag, but according to U.S. authorities, the first order to stop was given to the captain before the flag change, so the operation cannot be considered an attack on a Russian ship.
