"The ship was seized in the North Atlantic based on an order issued by a U.S. federal court," the command said in a statement. The tanker, previously known as Bella-1, was seized for violating the U.S. blockade. During the pursuit, the ship changed jurisdiction and was re-registered under the Russian flag, but according to U.S. authorities, the first order to stop was given to the captain before the flag change, so the operation cannot be considered an attack on a Russian ship. After the largest Ukrainian strike package reported against Moscow and the surrounding region, Russian authorities said more than 1,600 drones were intercepted nationwide, with 450 directed toward the capital. The Moscow oil refinery was among the facilities hit. The official language around the damage? “Unscheduled repair.” Meanwhile, Ukraine is experimenting with warfare that looks increasingly different from the opening years of the invasion. During Operation Vivaldi, Ukraine’s 3rd Army Corps says heavy bomber drones carried self-detonating ground robots more than 10 km behind Russian lines, putting unmanned systems ahead of infantry during assaults. The Corps reports more than 3,000 Russian personnel losses across the operation, while reporting territorial gains of 125 km². And Moscow is preparing for this contest to get much larger. Documents reviewed by Business Insider indicate plans that could expand Russian strike-drone capacity by 78%, enough material for roughly 28,000 additional drones annually.
