Ejection the right call IMHO: 1. Pilot can’t see damage. 2. He likely had engine fire lights. 3. He likely followed his EPs for this specific situation. 4. Human life is obviously more valuable than aircraft. 5. Pilot is an asset with all the $$$ to train and his experience.

As a former paratrooper I can tell you right now that pilot did not lane softly.
