@laravelphp Months ago, I came up with something “similar” but a little more visual, with phpdbg, but I didn't finish it.

@laravelphp Oh nice! I have a similar experiment somewhere using SPX 😁 I always preferred the style UI

@laravelphp what exactly is REPL?

Marcel Pociot 🧪's profile picture
Marcel Pociot 🧪10 months ago

@laravelphp That's a "read eval print loop" - like "php artisan tinker"

@laravelphp Looks cool. Are you recreating Xdebug in the browser? 😅

@laravelphp wow this is sick 👏 is it going to be a package, ship with Herd or whats the plan?

@laravelphp Right now the plan is to ship this with Herd, as it requires a custom PHP extension 👍

@laravelphp Looks amazing! You thinking due to the integration with Tinkerwell it’ll ship with it, or as a seperate product?

@laravelphp An idea if you havent considered it yet: history (to debug previous requests), and some sort of listeners allowing you to debug non-browser activity (for building out API's in Postman testing, or CLI jobs)

@laravelphp Awesome , this looks very cool. 🪄🧙‍♂️ imagine adding AI or claude code here to just take over to the error or code and debug and suggest the fix, that would be awesome.

@laravelphp This sort of thing always makes me think about arbitrary code execution security fails 😬

Marcel Pociot 🧪's profile picture
Marcel Pociot 🧪10 months ago

@laravelphp It would only be available in Herd - so only for local development environments

@laravelphp Well that's good.. only a matter of time before someone puts it on their production site though, probably, unless they _can't_ get that required extension elsewise.
