An insanely close pass by this van driver. It got issued the largest fine from any of my reports to date. £1,200 fine and £470 court costs. This was due to failing to notify the police who was driving.

A slightly longer video is on youtube (it's just more examples of good overtakes) and better quality at 4k.

I've had similar overtakes in the past on this road, which were not actioned, so wasn't expecting anything here. Just building cases to take to the council to try and fix it.

I wouldn't be surprised if the company decided to take the hit because the driver was close to the points limit for disqualification. Increased points might also impact insurance.

The issue with this road is the road isn't actually wide enough for the design. Motorists park on the other side (blocking that cycle lane), resulting in motor vehicles coming down the hill are forced across the centre line. Meaning motorists coming up are in the cycle lane

A good driver just waits until it is safe to overtake. Ultimately I want to push the council to get this redesigned.

What's great about this is it proves that a painted cycle lane is not enough for a driver to get away with close passing a cyclist. "But the road markings". Nope.

Spot on! I had reported similar and told it's fine because of the road markings. Was expecting this to be the same. At which point I was going to push the council to repaint the road.

The quality of it has deteriorated quite a bit since this happened as well, because motorists drive in it!

Not sure what the issue is. He got close but didn’t get into the bike lane at all.

@80sixblack I forgot, paint keeps me safe.
