He describes Gaza as a place he calls a “concentration camp”: tiny, overcrowded, cut off by an Israeli blockade, with extreme youth unemployment and almost no future. In his telling, these young men grew up pacing the same fenced, in strip of land, feeling like their lives were already over, and when they saw the region moving toward deals like the Abraham Accords, they believed Gaza was about to be sealed off forever, which he suggests helped drive the decision to launch the attack. "I think it requires great powers of imagination, but without going through all the details, which I suspect many of your listeners know, Gaza was basically an inferno. Under the Israeli occupation it was already being described by Israel’s head of its National Security Council, Giora Eiland, as a, quote, “huge concentration camp.” His words. NEW: CNN photojournalist put in a chokehold by Israeli soldiers before the entire CNN crew was detained in the West Bank. CNN says the crew was detained for two hours. The clip went viral and I was attacked as an antisemite and called worse than a "Holocaust denier." But now my instincts have been vindicated by a recent bombshell report proving Israel knew Hamas's attack plans more than a year in advance — they called it "Jericho wall" — and the plans were shared widely with intelligence and defense officials. Now many more questions must be answered: Why did Israeli intelligence officials, when notified of unusual activity in Gaza on Oct 6, not put one-and-one together that the planned attack was about to unfold? Why did it it take between 6 and even 20 hours for the IDF to get help to the communities massacred by terrorists? I stand with Israel and it's offensive against Hamas, but the US should not send one more penny to Israel until we have answers to these questions.
