I belong to that generation. We have seen both the worlds. When I was born there was no electricity, tap water, telephone, gas connection, even a pucca road, in my village. The school was only up to the middle standard (8th class). From there where have we come? The bigger point is not this change we have witnessed. It is that the old system is dead and the new has not yet evolved, and we are now in a transition. The natural environment, the physical activity (inbuilt), the societal protections (traditions, customs, prescriptions), family system (warmth in relationships), community living (the whole village lived like a big family) it all has crumbled. And without the new, not yet evolved, people are experiencing a great stress in their lives.

@AnupamPKher We mostly travelled in 2nd class standing for hours ! Standing in cooking gas line for hours ! Standing in que for hours to pay telephone bill ! Go to school in sleeper ! Fan was only thing !no AC no cooler ! Hardly seen a doctor for mild fever cold ! Drink water direct from tap!
