Today I also have to give an answer - After my post on Hindu festivals, countless people asked me that if you put forward so many arguments for Hindu festivals, then tell us why only women should observe the Karwa Chauth fast. Please pay attention to the answer - What is a very simple and scientific reason for a woman being a woman and a man being a man? The reasons are - Oestrogen and testosterone hormone - that is to say, Estrogen and Testosterone hormones - there can be no two opinions on this, Estrogen hormone is for beauty, Testosterone hormone is for muscle power or physical strength. This is a fundamental truth which you cannot deny even if you want to. Now when there is an army or any physical training or competition, the borderline or barrier is kept lower for women power. Similarly, in all sports, there is always a difference in the cut-off for men and women, men jump higher, men run faster and a civilized society never criticizes women power for this, even in most offices our society now has a good mindset that it gives equal opportunity to women. That is why where extreme or a lot of physical work or strength is required and when it comes to the frontline in the army, the men of a civilized society silently step forward. There, no question is even asked, they feel their responsibility. This shows that a civilized man of a civilized society believes this and says to women power - that you are also powerful, you are my strength, you are my inspiration, your life partner and your friend, therefore I am always standing behind you. Now if we talk about sensible women power, then she also has no doubt at all about her limits or her capabilities, she knows accordingly, that when my family and I will need physical strength for protection, where will I get it from. I, because of this form and conscience given by nature, the affection and care that I can give to children, a man cannot give, I am mentally much stronger and more empowered than a man. Therefore, so that I remain a support for my family, I observe the Karwa Chauth fast, for his long life. Now some people will say why don't men also keep fast for you, they should also keep it, why not fast for you? My answer of crores of Sanatani women power like me - If through this fast I were capable of giving strength or power to a man, then I would definitely say so, therefore I definitely request my life partner to observe Navratri i.e. my own nine forms, along with fasting, to acquire strength. God and nature have given me a longer life than a man even without fasting, (this is a 100% correct fact that the average age of women is much more than men) Therefore, so that I don't have to live this life without my life partner, I am praying to God for my life partner. The fact of the matter is that no one can by subjecting oneself to fast increase other person's life. Instead if the fasting helps anyone it is the person observing fast himself/herself. This it does by triggering autophagy and cleansing each cell by promoting digestion of decaying, degenerated components. This keeps diseases like cancer away. More importantly, for females the culture provides for more excuses to fast as it directly benefits in the fertility, reduces excess testosterone and prevents issues like PCOS. I ain't a sociologist but one possible explanation of connecting it to longer life of husband is to get more disciplined observation by the majority, as the emotional route makes it easier to get the compliance. @MisraNityanand I find even carrying two surnames ,one of the husband and another of the father nonsensical. The surname , much more than the symbol of gender dominance is a method of managing/tracing the genetic lineage . Imagine Ratna Pathak Shah's progeny borrow both Pathak and Shah and then adds to it the surname of her husband and the process continues as such , it would become a mess to manage. Rest, to each his own.
