Responding to allegations that Malaka and her spokesperson attempted to bribe Daily Maverick journalist Pieter-Louis Myburgh with R60,000 to stop a corruption exposé, Mbalula says, “It doesn’t matter who they are, if they are implicated in bribery or corruption, the law must deal with them.” He dismissed any attempt to intellectualise wrongdoing and emphasised that accountability must be non-negotiable.
