St. Luther was indeed inspired by the Holy Spirit in that moment.

To be fair, “is means is” is a remarkably poor argument for the real presence because it forces you to conclude every consecrated Eucharistic chalice is the literal New Covenant (Luke 22:20, 1 Cor 11:25). Jesus really is present in the sacrament, but requires a subtler argument.

Luther was very real for that. Also, Zwinglis approach was really bad.

I don't have a problem with Luther's understanding of the eucharist. He was pretty sure any minor disagreement from anyone not named Philip Melanchthon was a heretic. Melanchthon was pretty cool though, so I guess that's ok

When your debate opponent insists on dancing around the main thing, being stubborn on the main thing is deeply important, and that’s why I love St. Martin Luther.

Jesus spoke in poetic and symbolic stories, they were called parables. he has done real miracles, yes, but communion cant be about transformation of food into flesh and blood sense the blood is representing the new covenant which wasn't full field because he was still alive
