@mxsage @Modostech The little physical mixer next to the panel makes this feel like an instrument. I’d love a version where you dial in a pattern, then leave it as a still print until the next time you touch a knob.

@mxsage @Modostech yes! would love more visual instruments. great thing about eink is the persistent image retention without power. could totally see this driving an evolving artwork.

@mxsage @Modostech Ugh I wish I didn’t see this. Now I’m ordering parts online.

would love to see what you could do with one of these! also tempted to splash out on a much larger panel, but they get pretty steep pretty quickly...

@mxsage @Modostech That'd be the dream! I guess this controller can only run displays up the 13" at the moment. I really love what you've done and am definitely curious about running autonomous art systems on e-ink.

@mxsage @Modostech yeah, it’d require a more powerful driver board, but theoretically possible! something for the future :)

@mxsage @Modostech Love seeing TX6s in the wild

@mxsage @Modostech i feel bad for using it almost exclusively as a BLE MIDI controller! it's a pretty versatile device <3

@mxsage @Modostech you have the coolest engineering on twitter this week, keep going, you rock

@mxsage @Modostech Unreal

@LuisBizarro @mxsage @Modostech cc @FeralFile @moskovich @REAS

@mxsage @Modostech great song

@mxsage @Modostech Amazing

@mxsage @Modostech i need more of this magic in my life 😍

@mxsage @Modostech Amazing totally looks haunted

@mxsage @Modostech asmr

@mxsage @Modostech Man whattttttt

@mxsage @Modostech @aravindballa

@mxsage @Modostech I don’t even know what I’d do with it, I just want it.

@mxsage @Modostech oh my days this is stunning

@mxsage @Modostech i want this in the size of a tv. let me rephrase that - i want this to replace my tv.

@mxsage @Modostech sick combination with the TX6!

@mxsage @Modostech 𝚙𝚛𝚎𝚏𝚎𝚛𝚜-𝚌𝚘𝚕𝚘𝚛-𝚜𝚌𝚑𝚎𝚖𝚎: 𝚎𝚒𝚗𝚔 🔥

@mxsage @Modostech Ooooooof! God dammit man!!! That’s so cool!!! I rarely think about using my midi gear for stuff like this!!! Ugh. That screen….

@mxsage @Modostech Shout out Harold Budd!! 💪

@mxsage @Modostech Harold Budd!

I'd design a pattern around the ghosting, so each frame leaves a little of the last one behind.

yeah, i think as an interactive panel there's so much you could do to embrace the ghosting and "limitations" of the panel. works particularly well with physarum and biosim pieces like this, since they have a natural decay.

@mxsage @Modostech me trying to impress mitosis trade

@mxsage @Modostech its good to see you back online :)

@mxsage @Modostech slowly thawing, good to be back! <3

@mxsage @Modostech So cool

@mxsage @Modostech Beautiful

@mxsage @Modostech Try a few spiritual frequencies. 444, 532 and compare with the evil 432

@mxsage @Modostech looks like a ton of fun!

@mxsage @Modostech Sorry to be pushy, but could you check your DMs? Thanks in advance.

@mxsage @Modostech just replied!

@mxsage @Modostech Where do you get such fast panels and what is the catch? Why normal eink screens are so much slower?

@mxsage @Modostech it’s all a trade-off really! if you’re making an e-reader, you’re far more interested in low interactivity/cost/power. if you look at the datasheets for most panels, they’re actually rated for fast refreshes, but just require fast & (relatively) expensive chips to power them.

@mxsage @Modostech how expensive are we taking about?

@mxsage @Modostech kindle probably costs ~$70 to manufacture all-in, this panel and driver are ~$200 all-in. obvs scale changes things, but more than double.

@mxsage @Modostech ❤️

@mxsage @Modostech magic is real

@mxsage @Modostech What driver are you using?

@mxsage @Modostech So the TX-6 is far smaller than I imagined

@mxsage @Modostech yeah, it’s tiny! the rotary encoders could use a little more space, but glad they were able to fit so many on there.

@mxsage @Modostech omg
