And I’ll never get over how they were both voiced by the same guy.

He's also the voice of City Hunter

でも神谷氏が一番好きなのは冴羽獠なんだよな フランスとアジア以外だと誰も知らんけどね

I love City Hunter as well. I’ll actually be hosting a talk on “manly anime” at a convention next weekend and this series along with Kinnikuman and Hokuto No Ken are the centerpieces.

We US otaku in the 90s loved him, but you’re right, most western kids this days would call him “problematic” no matter how heroic and cool he is under the silly and perverted exterior.

Agreed. I also felt he put on that perverted front to help the people he was protecting feel at ease. If you’re distracted by this “weird” man, you’re not gonna be fearful that someone else might be trying to harm you.

AMEN! I didn't have enough text to mention AKIRA KAMIYA THE GOD HIMSELF ♥️ MY LONG LOST FATHER THROUGH THE SCREEN 📺

And my boy Shutaro~

También no olvidar a Kogoro

@THEAnimeHERO Huge fan of his work! He’s the reason why I have such a profound love for 80s anime! 😆 I’d say my favorite work of his has to be kinikuman then city hunter after that.

Akira Kamiya is a treasure. He is also behind the voice of several Mecha pilots. Including this guy.

Yeah, this is what I call range.

Kenshiro, Kinnikuman, Ryo, Kogoro, and so many others. His range from comedic to total badass is unmatched. And he has a great singing voice too!

i think americans have this shock when voice actors can do different voices is because the dubbing scene is shit and filled with people who all sound the same.

I grew up in the 80s when Frank Welker was at his peak, Paul Fries was still active, and everyone was playing 4-5 roles in the same show, so it’s not exactly shocking but still worthy of awe and respect.

just telling me you havent had any good voice actors since the 80s lmao

I’m a little biased, but sure?

@THEAnimeHERO So extremely talented

It's like realizing Peter Cullen voiced both Optimus Prime and Eeyore

And Frank Welker was both Megatron and this thing…

Frank Welker, like Darkseid, is many things. He was once a flock of birds

His Darkseid/Krulos/Doctor Claw “evil monster boss man” voice will never cease to amaze me. Same with his ability to play every animal ever.

The best for me is still TFP Megatron. It hits all the parts of menancing gravely and somehow still being suave and charismatic. Same as Peter as TFP Optimus, who I see as someone holding the weight of the world on his shoulders but still being aspiring and fatherly

Translating Abeshi is wild

@THEAnimeHERO The voice of manly fighting spirit across generations. A truly legendary voice actor.

Range.

This is Guilmon and Spike Spiegel

I don't think there will ever be another Kenshiro voice actor to ever match him. His voice is what I hear in my head when I think about the character.

Never knew that is awesome

Ryo Saeba voice

The vocal range from Japanese VA’s ABSOLUTE LEGENDS
