Quincy wasn't perfect but he had an ear for great timeless music. He also had connections to some of the best writers, producers and sound engineers in the game. Which undoubtedly helped MJ with his craft.

Ridiculous. Q encouraged MJ to write more. That’s what led to most of BAD being written by MJ. There was a reason why MJ cried and begged record executives to hire Q as his producer. And Q has staged that the Billie Jean story was a lie.

Um, Michael writes 4 of the 9 tracks on Thriller, and yes, much more in Bad (9 of 11). But they were all collaborative efforts, and to diminish QJ’s impact is ridiculous.

MJ did write and produce those songs. Quincy encouraged Michael to write and produce more, not hold him back. Part of the process is you are not going to always agree on what songs make the album because you have many great songs to choose from. Bumping heads and not always agreeing is how you push each other to get the best product. Some of you MJ fans need to stop villainizing his greatest helpers. Quincy elevated MJ’s demos into hits with more seasoned production. MJ wanted to take the strings out on Don’t Stop til you get enough. Quincy had to convince him to keep that in. They went back forth, but that is part of the process. Not Quincy wanting to hold Michael back that’s crazy. Quincy helped push Michael forward into another stratosphere.

@justcreatemore_ Y’all need to understand the difference between instrumentation and producing. Michael brought the ideas he heard sonically to Quincy to which he masterfully created the instrumentation for. Quincy’s musical genius is not to be discredited.

To downplay Q's contributions are disrespectful. Q was a legend BEFORE and AFTER MJ. The fact is that MJ never reached the heights he did with Q afterward they parted creatively. MJ was an incredible artist. However, he was not Prince.
